Limit analysis applied to masonry arch bridges : state-ofthe-art and recent developments

Limit analysis potentially provides a highly effective means of verifying the safety of structures and has successfully been applied to masonry arch bridges for many years. Hand based limit analysis techniques have been largely superseded by computer based methods which are the primary focus of this paper.
