A novel bit-level image encryption scheme using hyper-chaotic systems

In recent years, a variety of chaos-based image encryption algorithms have been proposed at the pixel level. A novel bit-level image encryption scheme using hyper-chaotic systems is proposed in this paper. The confusion-diffusion architecture is employed, in which the ordinary confusion operation is replaced by a decompose-and-compose image permutation strategy at the bit level, and then the permuted image is further diffused. Experiments have been carried out to compare its performance with that of other schemes, and the results justify the superior security of our proposed scheme.
