A review of inductive power transfer for electric vehicles

Electric vehicles (EVs) as the next generation of vehicles are becoming more reliable. Battery charging system is an important challenge to make the EVs popular. Wireless charging are user friendly and safe systems. It proposed to overcome consumer’s concerns regarding charging battery and driving range. This paper presents a review of resonant inductive power transfer methods for electric vehicles. The wireless power transfer (WPT) circuit topology for EV charging applications are presented. The coil and ferrite shapes have been discussed. The health and safety issues as the highest priority for electrical, coupling fields and fire hazards are also discussed addressing related standards for WPT.
