The Impact of AMI on the Future Power System

As an important component of the smart grid,the advanced metering infrastructure(AMI)will trigger profound changes in the future power system.In this paper,the definition,functions and some issues closely related to AMI,such as the electricity pricing mechanism,renewable sources of energy generation and consumer energy storage devices,are studied.The influence of AMI on future power system is discussed and the AMI and customer power information gathering system are compared.Finally,suggestions are made for research on and construction of AMI in China.
