A Novel High Bandwidth Bipolar Corrector Power Supply in Taiwan Photon Source

The first light of Taiwan's photon source was produced on December 2013. TPS has been in operation for 6 years and mean time between fail (MTBF) has reached world class standards. The NSRRC upgrade of a storage ring and booster ring requires fast bipolar power supplies for the fast correction magnets. For the fast correction magnets are requirement of the correction power supplies must had a high bandwidth of 10kHz for the output current. A prototype DC/DC corrector power supply using a MOSFET full bridge circuit with a 200kHz PWM control signal and achieved up of 10kHz bandwidth with less than 3-dB attenuation for a small refer signal of the maximum operation current of 10 amperes. Finally, the prototype achieved an 11 kHz bandwidth with less than 3 dB attenuation for a refer signal 0.1V (equal to 0.lA). This paper also presents the designs of the power circuit, control circuit, MOSFET driver circuit, auxiliary & regulator power circuit, protection circuit, and component layout. The experimental results, the effectiveness of the control loop design can be verified from the gain margin and phase margin.
