A simulation study on the influence of polypropylene bumper on pedestrian lower leg injuries

Pedestrian lower leg injury is one of the most common injury forms in pedestrian traffic accident. The paper studied the pedestrian lower leg injuries impacted by a vehicle polypropylene(PP) bumper which meets the requirements of recycling and lightweight vehicles, and whose performance is better than the general homopolymerize PP or co-polymerization PP. Based on finite element method, the paper developed a simplified model and proved the feasibility of replacing the traditional bumper with the Polypropylene one.
