Model updating using the Error in the Constitutive Relation: Real case study

This paper deals with mass, stiffness and damping updating in dissipative structures. The method used is based on the concept of error in the constitutive relation. We are concerned with lightly damped structures so that the updating can be processed in two stages. The first stage consists of the updating of the mass and stiffness parameters and is performed using the Drucker error. The second stage concerns damping updating and is performed through the use of the 'dissipation error'. An application of full updating on the GARTEUR SM-AG 19 Testbed provided by the COST F3 action group is presented. The damping updating is performed using various damping laws such as hysteretic and viscous damping as well as fractional derivatives laws.
