THE PERIODICALS OF DERMATOLOGY

For over a century, specialty journals in dermatology have been available to the nnedical community. One of the first periodicals devoted to the specialty of cutaneous medicine, Ciornale Italiano delle Malattie Veneree e delle Pelle, continues to be an important publication after 109 years. At least 200 other dermatology journals have appeared since the mid-nineteenth century; they have been published in all sizes, shapes and languages. The story of these publications has been retold in part elsewhere.'"' We have been increasingly aware of the need for a current listing of periodicals devoted to dermatology. With the burgeoning demands made upon reading time, we wanted to know the extent of the dermatology literature in serial form.
