Speech acts and action theory

Abstract There are two basic approaches to human action, the multiplier theory and the unifier theory. In this paper the author offers a revised version of The Multiplier Theory of A.I. Goldman and J. Kim and then applies it to illocutionary and perlocutionary acts. The author's goal is to show on a given occasion when a speaker performs an utterance act, an illocutionary act and a perlocutionary act, how these acts are related.
