The main goal of our project is to develop a new micropropagation bioreactor technology usable for important plant species grown under tropical and temperate climate. The program focused on the design of a horizontal 'revert rotary reactor' system called '3R' bioreactor for in vitro cloning of plants in liquid culture medium. Our program also includes studies of biological and technical parameters of the new systems involving fruit crops and ornamental plant species (banana, pineapple, orchid, leafy pot plant, etc.). Current status of the project: (1) projecting and technical development of the horizontal 'revert rotary reactor' concept; (2) construction of 3R bioreactor prototype operating with six units of light-transparent plastic reactor modules having a total aseptic volume of 18 litres; (3) laboratory-scale micro-propagation with 3R bioreactors; (4) plant physiological research using 3R bioreactor and its special culturing modules.
