ROTATIONAL BANDS AND SHELL MODEL IN THE 1f7/2

The nuclei in the middle of the 1f7/2 shell are shown to have rotational features. Progresses made recently at GASP in their spectroscopy, and in particular in lifetime measurement, are reviewed. The agreement of Large Scale Shell Model calculations with experiments is in general excellent. As an example, the case of 50 Cr is illustrated where a observed bandcrossing is discussed as well as its connection with recent Coulomb Energy Differences data in the 50 Fe -50 Cr mirror pair.
