Mathematical studies of the human menstrual cycle. II. Simulation performance of a model of the human menstrual cycle.

ABSTRACT Performance of a mathematical model of the human menstrual cycle is described. Hypotheses regarding control of the cycle are developed and demonstrated by simulation. From model performance and mathematical principles it is suggested that this endocrine system is regulated by small, rapid hormone level changes. These signals may provide information characterizing the morphological state of the system on a moment to moment basis.
