Designing web lectures: bridging design theory and educational practice through an inductive approach

This paper explores the potential of an inductive approach to bridging IS design theory and the educational context where the design is to be implemented. The findings indicate three major advantages of deriving an emergent design concept that is rooted in actual design practice. Firstly, this approach generates design concepts that are likely to be situated in existing technological infrastructure Secondly, it introduces a bottom up focus on multimedia prodution issues, where lean production is put at the centre. Thirdly, and finally, a natural consequence of an inductive approach is that system design practice becomes evolutionary rather than revolutionary
