The Development of the Simple Transfer Instrument for Reducing the Burden of Caregivers: Effect of Back Support Length

Back and waist injuries are the most common occupational ailments that caregivers treat. Among them, helping the elderly and handicapped people move between their bed and wheelchair, is the main cause of occupation disease. Although there are different types of assisted moving equipment available in the marketplace, they are not, yet, widely used. Most electrically powered equipment takes time to prepare and use as well as putting the user in an uncomfortable position. We have developed a new transferring device which, within a few minutes, the intended task will have been completed using the least amount of effort resulting in the caretaker more relaxed and the patient less likely to become uncomfortable. When used, the main use of the chest, arms and knees to disperse the weight of the body. This manuscript through the testing of different patients use, how to adjust the support column in order to reduce stress on the body.
