Simulation of Active Rotor Control by Comprehensive Rotor Code with Prescribed Wake Using HART II Data

In this paper DLR’s high resolution comprehensive rotor code S4 together with its prescribed wake module as well as DLR’s acoustic code APSIM will be used to simulate the aerodynamic loading (including blade-vortex interaction), blade motion, wake system (tip vortex helix and trajectory) and acoustic radiation of a 40% Mach-scaled Bo105 hingeless model rotor that has been used within the HART II test. The test cases used for code validation are the baseline case without active control (which represents a 6deg descent flight with strong BVI noise radiation) and two cases with 3/rev higher harmonic control applied to the blade root with different control phase to minimize noise and vibration.
