An Optimization Approach for Fuzzy Controller Design

Specification of membership functions for a fuzzy logic controller has been an important issue in engineering. This paper presents a new procedure for designing a fuzzy controller using a high-dimensional numerical optimization algorithm. In this study, effectiveness of an optimization program for designing a fuzzy controller is determined, and the relationship between membership functions and controller performance is discussed. The proposed method was applied to the blood pressure regulation problem as a case study
