Solution of the equations of motion of coupled-bending bending torsion vibrations of turbine blades by the method of ritz-galerkin

Abstract In this paper Galerkin's procedure is applied to determine the natural frequencies of a straight cantilever blade with an asymmetric aerofoil cross-section executing coupled-bending torsion vibrations. The results obtained are compared with the calculations made by a numerical procedure developed by Rao and the theoretical and experimental results of Carnegie and Dawson. The results obtained by Galerkin's process are shown to be in good agreement with the theoretical and experimental results mentioned above.
