Microsoft Academic Search: the multi-object engine

Microsoft Academic Search is a development of Microsoft Research Asia which focuses all its service in the profiling of not only authors but also organizations, key words and journals. In addition to original visualizations and benchmarking instruments, this engine is one of the most innovative solutions in the scope of scientific information available on the web. Microsoft Academic Search bases its data entirely in the CrossRef database and employs an automatic citation index ranked according to the PopRank algorithm. Its principal weaknesses are its poor search mechanism oriented only to papers and authors, its suspect policy of citation assignment in organization profiles, and its slow updating speed.
