Testing of SVC Compensation and Filtering Performance with Tokamak PF Converter

SVC compensation and filtering performance is of great significance for stable operation of power electronic equipments and AC distribution system. A set of 83 Mvar static var compensator (SVC) similar to ITER RPC&HF was constructed in China to compensate reactive power and filter harmonic current of ITER PF converter prototype. Based on the background, AC distribution system, main circuit topology and operation mode of the PF converter were explored, moreover, current waveform of 4-quadrant mode was shown. Then wiring diagram, parameter configuration and characteristics of the SVC were represented. At the last, according to the test, we further investigated compensation and filtering performance in different operation modes, emphatically compared various electrical parameters between without and with SVC,and result verifies SVC has a good compensation and filtering performance.
