Detection, Energy, and Robustness in Wireless Sensor Networks

We consider sensor networks that must perform an event detection function. Based on a simplified sensor network model, we investigate three operating options, develop the optimal decision rules for them, and assess their performance for different values of the system parameters. We adopt an energy consumption model and demonstrate the tradeoff between detection performance and energy efficiency. Additionally we examine the robustness of the network in resisting attacks. Specifically we consider two attacks of node destruction and observation data deletion.
