Shape contour recognition using moment invariants

The application of moment invariants to shape and pattern recognition problems is discussed. Zernike moment invariants and pseudo-Zernike moment invariants are derived in a new generalized form for the nth order. A new normalization procedure which improves the discrimination power of both Zernike and pseudo-Zernike moment invariants for handwritten numerals is also presented.<<ETX>>
