External anal sphincter sparing seton after rerouting of the fistula tract – a video vignette

Treatment of complex anal fistula (CAF) is challenging as it mandates a fine balance between the need to completely eradicate the pathology of the fistula tract and to preserve anal continence. To this end, different sphincter-saving procedures have been described for the treatment of CAF, including ligation of intersphincteric fistula tract (LIFT), rectal advancement flap, anal fistula plug, video-assisted anal fistula treatment (VAAFT), and fistula laser closure technique (FILAC) [1-4].
