Dynamic characteristics of thermoelastic actuators

Accurate fixing of massive bodies requires devices capable of producing sufficiently high forces at relatively small distances. Well-known are such devices working on the mechanical or hydraulic principles. But it is also possible to use electromagnetic devices working on the principle of thermoelasticity. The paper presents an actuator of this type and deals with modeling of its operation properties. The theoretical analysis of the problem (that represents a nonlinear and nonstationary multiply coupled task) is illustrated by a typical example.
