A REDUNDANT SERVER MODEL BASED ON DISTRIBUTED OBJECTS

In consideration of the drawbacks of the current distributed computing models, distributed object technologies are adopted in the present paper to provide a computing model HORIS for redundant servers. Redundant servers are definitely defined through the concepts of class and instance, and stateful servers are distinguished from stateless servers. Furthermore, the concepts of requests and hosts are abstracted from distributed computing environment in the model. Based on HORIS, management architecture AMA is created for redundant servers and its implementation is developed on the CORBA platform. Compared with other management architectures of redundant servers, AMA possesses the advantages of openness, adaptability, heterogeneity, and scalability.
