Influence of flow type on solid oxide fuel cell performance

SOFC is a complicated system with heat and mass transfer as well as electrochemical reactions. Its performance is primary determined by its flow configuration in some sense.Based on the developed mathematical model of one dimension and direct internal reforming SOFC,the volume-resistance(V-R) characteristic modeling and distributed and lumped parameters SOFC simulation model for both co-flow and counter-flow types were established. The comparison and analysis of the distribution steady and dynamic performances were completed for both flow types. The results indicate that the co-flow type configuration SOFC is more suitable in the view of both performance and safety.
