Multimedia Information Retrieval

Multimedia Information Retrieval constitutes a very active multidisciplinary research area. In this paper, we first attempt to characterize the various works and prominent challenges of the field and subsequently present a retrieval platform that supports progressive searches and query specification, post-coordination of descriptions and semantic modeling in a network environment as well as works on achieving effectiveness through user interactions.
