Design of the spiral drift by distributing a feedback-related excitability over a small dynamic region

Geometrical designs of the spiral core trajectory are exhibited by applying a feedback-related excitability distribution over a small dynamic region (SDR). To illustrate the approach, we firstly present two types of excitability distributions, one of which, at any point, has the gradient perpendicular to the position vector with respect to the center of the SDR (hereafter we refer to this distribution with the gradient circling image as the “CFd”). Then we utilize the CFd-in-SDR to guide the spiral core through the medium along several artificially designed paths. Moreover, this approach is deliberately used to avoid heterogeneous obstacles and further to detect their sizes. The finding results in the paper not only confirm but also extend our previous work by showing that only the excitability in the SDR matters for the core motion.
