The In uence of Radiometric Correction on Stereo Matching

We present preliminary results connrming the importance of radiometric calibration in multicamera applications. We review systematic and random noise in the video sensor (camera/frame grabber). The manifestation of background noise in dark images, and xed pattern noise in at elds are illustrated. Through a at-eld correction of an uniform intensity stereo image pair an improvement of 26% to 59% in stereo matching is demonstrated.
