Helical Inlet Port Test And Evaluation Method For Direct Injection Diesel Engine

The characteristic of helical inlet port including swirl ratio and flow coefficient has an important effect on the performance of diesel engine.This paper introduces the steady flow test rig of port for engines. It also introduces the calculations, the characteristics, the differences and the applicability by two different evaluation methods: the FEV method and Ricardo method.Aanalyzing the results of comparative steady flow tests on the six inlet ports on the YC6108Q diesel engine,the authors propose some measures in order to ensure stable and even flow coefficient and swirl ratio.
