Effectiveness of Collaborative Learning in the Network-based Language Communities

This paper discusses how the integration of a high-quality video-conferencing system, a chat system, and a web-based voting system promotes the establishment of effective network-based learning communities, particularly for cross-cultural language learning. The main objective is to evaluate the influence of such network-based communities on students' attitudes toward classroom activities. Our results suggest that the learning communities created by the integration of ICT provide an effective cross-cultural learning environment for students to respond to this type of language activity.
