Study of Characteristics of Large Bored Piles

With reference to the trial piling data and FEM simulation, this paper makes a study of the characteristics of large bored piles (pile length 50 m, pile diameter 800 mm) that are widely used for major bridges. The characteristics of the piles in question are of universality and special significance in bridge construction, and include function of bearing layer, selection of the bearing layer and effective pile length. The findings of the study herewith may serve as guidance to the practical application of large bored piles.
