100nm Ultra-Wideband Optical Fiber Transmission Systems Using Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers

We report on the use of semiconductor optical amplifiers to enlarge optical bandwidth of next generation optical systems. We review the recent demonstration of the first > 100Tb/s transmission based on novel 100nm-wide SOA over 100km distance.
