Faculty Participation in the Pennsylvania State University World Campus: Identifying barriers to success

The study investigates faculty participation in Pennsylvania State University's electronic distance education, degree-granting campus. The objective of the study was to ascertain the difficulties faculty members and their administrators have when faculty choose to teach in an electronic campus set up within a large, traditional, research institution. The study draws on the views of participants to identify the key barriers, major concerns, and top incentives for faculty members who choose to teach in the new electronic campus environment.
