Curved, Precast, Pretensioned Concrete I-Girder Bridges

The pretensioned concrete I-girder is the most economical shape for mass production. Thus, the use of curved, pretensioned concrete I-girders may be potentially more cost effective than the use of curved steel girders and curved, posttensioned concrete girders. This paper discusses the feasibility of long-bed fabrication of curved, precast, pretensioned concrete I-girders, as well as the associated construction issues. A cost comparison of curved, pretensioned and curved, posttensioned concrete girder bridges is also presented.
