Electromagnetic design of high performance frequency-selective large sandwich radome

System performance requirements place increasing demands on radome design. Specifications on ground based radomes become much tighter as a direct consequence of rapid growth and development of advanced techniques for radar and communication systems. Low sidelobe, multi-frequency and wider bandwidth antenna systems are of particular interest. These impose on radomes an increasing demand for high transmission and lower boresight shift, cross polarization, sidelobe degradation and reflection. In the design of large sandwich radomes, scattering effects from the seams play a significant role. To obtain a high performance radome, one should consider both reducing the scattering from the individual seams and optimizing the seam geometry.
