Structural scale modelling in buckling

Abstract A method using the F.E.M. approach is proposed for producing a buckling model of huge structures. A general scaling equation is also derived for the partial buckling scale model, using unequal scaling of various structural components in the structure. Simple example problems are solved to show the workability of the scaling equation. The theoretical basis and the limitation of the work are given.
