Retained soil width in mid-island excavation method based on ultimate resistance method

Based on the improved elastic foundation beam method and the Ito's soil pressure theory,a deformation compatibility equation is established to study the calculation mode of the width of retained soil in mid-island construction method.A finite difference solution is given based on the ultimate resistance method.On this basis,the influences of different retain soil widths and reinforcements for retained soil of mid-island are analyzed.A comparison between the theoretical and measured values of an actual project is made to draw some useful conclusions.
