Evolutionary operation as a tool of optimization for solid state fermentation

Abstract Evolutionary operation (EVOP) is an important tool for the optimization of a complex system like solid state fermentation (SSF) whose objective or response function is influenced by a large number of physico-chemical parameters. EVOP takes care of all the variable parameters at a time to evaluate statistically their effects including interaction effects on the response function and finally select the optimum conditions based on the decision making analysis to arrive at the maximum or minimum.
