Basic Electronic Circuits

This chapter introduces the basics of electronics. In addition to a basic understanding of the functional principle of semiconductors, the introduction of the most important semiconductor components, such as diodes and transistors, provides the opportunity to investigate complex circuits. These play an important role, for example, in the conversion of analog signals into digital signals (see Sect. 7.5) and in the power electronics of electric motors (see Sect. 9.2). Furthermore, amplifier circuits and simple logic circuits are introduced on this basis. Finally, the operational amplifier provides the basis for mapping mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction and integration in analog circuits.
