Feasibility of Radiometric Sensing of Two-Dimensional Thermal Patterns in Local Hyperthermia

A numerical analysis has been carried out to test a technique for the reconstruction of two-dimensional thermal patterns induced by local hyperthermia. The method uses first a deconvolution of data obtained by displacing a multifrequency microwave sensor across the surface of the heated region to achieve transverse resolution. Deconvolved data are then processed to retrieve the subcutaneous gradient with depth. The numerical results indicate that, at least in principle, the retrieval may be feasible.
