High performance transmission using differential multi-pulse modulation (DMPM) in transmit-reference ultra-wideband (TR-UWB) communications

AbstactIn this paper, a new modulation scheme, Differential Multi -pulse Modulation (DMPM) for TR-UWB communication system has been proposed in order to increase the total data rate. By these scheme s, the modulated pulse that has ever been used for a transmission of only one data bit in each pulse-pair in conventional TR-UWB system, can be used for a transmission of more than one bit data depending on the level of MPM modulation. Moreover, the error performance has been upgraded by proposed adequate demodulation schemes. In addition, the simulation results show that the total throughput performance of the proposed system has been improved, nearly 3-4 times when comparing with the conventional TR-UWB.
