Rescheduling, Constrained Participation Factors and Parameter Sensitivity in the Optimal Power Flow Problem

A method of sensitivity analysis is developed that allows the recomputation of a new schedule for not too large variations in system conditions such as loads or constraints values. This allows both for less frequent re-solution of the total optimal power flow problem as well as quick calculation of new schedules if the system is in an alert state. The sen-sitivity analysis takes into account both equality and inequality constraints and permits the identification of the parameters that have the greatest influence on the solution, thus pointing out areas requiring more accurate measurement and instrumentation. The method permits the calculation of constrained participation factors for units to be used for ramping their output, between dispatching intervals. This is acheived without the need for complete multiple re-solutions of the dispatching problem.
