Mobile Vision and Cultural Heritage : the AGAMEMNON Project

The great success that mobile devices like PDAs and cellular phones have been experiencing since the last few years pushes for the development of new tools in the field of Cultural Heritage that exploits such technologies. AGAMEMNON, a project co-funded under the IST 6th Framework Program of the European Commission, is an example of such application. It exploits mobile phones equipped with embedded cameras for enhancing visits of both archeological sites and museums. Thanks to AGAMEMNON, tourists are equipped with a customized and detailed multimedia tourist guide directly on their own phone. Many features make AGAMEMNON something more than a simple guide and its use is advantageous for both tourists and site personnel.
