Hybrid integrated external cavity laser without temperature dependent mode hopping

We propose a new integrated external cavity laser, which eliminates temperature-dependent mode hopping by employing silicon between the laser diode (LD) and the grating. Operation without mode hopping is experimentally confirmed from 18/spl deg/C to 34/spl deg/C.
