HYLTEC Do 228, Hybrid Laminar Flow Technology Systems, Instrumentation and Flight Test

Hybrid Laminar Flow Control consisting of interacting sub-systems for boundary layer suction, contamination and ice protection has been the subject of flight tests with the DLR Do228 test vehicle in 2002 as Task 1.1.4 in the EC founded HYLTEC (Hybrid Laminar Flow Technology) Project. In this contribution a description of system layout and flight test results is given. The HYLTEC flight tests clearly demonstrated that protection systems against icing and insect contamination can be successfully integrated into a boundary layer suction system.
