This paper presents the results of theoretical and experimental studies of monopole and dipole ultra-wide band antennas in radiation and reception mode for some set of operation conditions including the traveling and standing waves of exciting and induced currents in antennas. Theoretical studies involve a simple analytical technique to obtain the far region compact analytical expressions with evident physical meaning. Experimental set-up is implemented on the base of ultra-wide band radar components to examine the proposed theoretical models. The presented theoretical and experimental approaches allow to study the UWB performances of a set of antenna structures, operation modes, application areas that is valuable for academic, engineering and research goals.
