A study and application of speech recognition technology in primary and secondary school for deaf/hard of hearing students

Speech recognition (SR) technology is applied in the deaf/hard of hearing education for its valuable characteristic of speech-to-text. The International Liberated Learning Alliance aims at using IBM Viavoice and Viascribe speech recognition software in teaching and learning to help the handicapped students study more easily, and have had many success in English ect. other language environment. This paper studies the effect of using Chinese speech recognition technology in primary and secondary school for deaf/hard of hearing students, and analyses the influencing factors on applying this technology.
