Contingency-constrained reactive power planning and scheduling

The authors describe a software package that has been created to solve the contingency-constrained reactive power flow problem. A methodology is presented which aims to provide an effective tool for the planning and scheduling of reactive power under a set of defined contingencies. The proposed methodology uses a decomposition/coordination scheme to solve the reactive power scheduling problem. The set of equations, composed of the base case and specified contingencies, is partitioned in such a way that a dynamic set of the most sensitive control variables is associated with each contingency. A parallel-processing scheme produces the required solution.<<ETX>>
