Research on Five- axis Tool- path Generation of Impeller Channel Roughing using Adaptive Layer Milling

The major obstacles encountered in impeller channel roughing process are the redundancy of tool path and the uneven left over of materials. In the effort to overcome such deficiency,an adaptive layer milling algorithm is proposed. Geometric characteristics of the channel as w ell as the curvature variation property of each layer surface are taken into consideration. The interval of tool path is fixed in traditional layer milling but varied w ith curvature in adaptive layer milling. Experiment results show that the proposed method improves machining efficiency by five-axis NC machine tool,Mikron UCP 800.
