Abstract: This chapter presents an overview of modern (post-1970) earth building technology and selected contemporary case studies throughout europe. It includes an appraisal of the conservation and revival of traditional earth building techniques, as well as modern construction techniques that have been adapted for commercialisation and compatibility with the modern day construction industry. Details are included for formwork types, approaches to soil stabilisation, structural detailing and fabric insulation.
